Sarah has an autoimmune disease called ulcerative colitis since her early 20s. She was denied coverage for it after she aged out of her parents' extended coverage. She is finally getting the extremely expensive medication she needs to help her body recover and hopefully send her condition into remission. Without the ACA, she will be relegated to limited care with no or low prescription drug coverage through the Indian Health Service, which has no funding for the specialty care she needs for gastroenterologist consults.
