I was working FT salary for a cheap-@ss company that won't provide benefits. Before that, as a single mom, I had to take a 30-hr/week job (no benefits) and work weekends at another job to make ends meet, so had to sign up for ACA then. I've often had issues getting coverage and have gone without insurance for plenty of years. Having asthma disqualified me from plans before the mandate in the ACA was put in place. (People get why the mandate and coverage regardless of pre-existing conditions go hand in hand, yes?)

Before ACA, i had been denied due to asthma or, get this, having ever had an abnormal pap, even though I could show a normal one a few weeks later. I have realized many people think pre-existing conditions are cancer, not small things like one off lab test that showed nothing.
